1920s romance postcard. Private Collection.
I spent quite some time restoring this amazing and rare Italian series of romantic postcards. The originals have all kinds of white speckles that are not too bothersome to the naked eye, but scanned…heh! The postcards also have a pin hole on the left of each card at the same spot, as if they were all stacked and pinned on a wall to take down when the mood strikes. I can see a soldier doing this on the wall of his bunk bed, but that’s my fertile imagination talking. :)
I call this gorgeous series The Motion Picture Kiss because all 5 postcards back to back look like a kiss in motion of the man making his way to the woman’s lips.

Nice piece of restoration, you have to wonder whether there is just five in the set although they do seem to have five, an odd number for a set.

Thank you. I say ‘series of 5’ because I have 5 of them, that’s all I mean by it. There could be many more! Maybe I need to be more specific when I mention series. Hm…

It wasn’t because of your title, it seems common to have five in a set although I have seen some with seven, it just seems odd, I prefer even numbers lol

Weird, much expletives lol.Odd numbers are supposed to be more symmetrical and the Prophet preferred odd numbers lol but I prefer even numbers they look better on a page, so it could well be my OCD :-O although single cards also look good on a page, if somewhat lonely ;-)

Nothing wrong with singles! But this makes me think they rarely are. They’re all series I think. Btw this is unrelated but postcards look to be more affordable on ebay and etsy. I’ve seen romantic postcards sold for much more on other specialized sites. Crazy.

I sometimes use Ebid or Delcampe but I’ve never tried Etsy. I’m sure you’ve right about the sets I think my recent purchase “Dancing on the beach” must be from a set but I haven’t seen any more yet.
