PC Paris #2963. Young man with chicks. RPPC. Private Collection.
That was way too easy. :)
Do you remember when I posted the beautiful couple on the bicycle? That was last September. I hoped to stumble upon this 1920’s postcard model again, but I did not hold my breath. So when I spotted him after eight months of casually scouring seller stocks, I was thrilled to finally add another one of his cards to this collection. Unlike some others he is near impossible to find. Unfortunately, there is no information about postcard models of the period. I would have liked to find out who he was.
While I understand the models who posed for the more risqué cards had to hide their identity and are now essentially uncredited, I don’t see why there is absolutely no information about the models who posed for tamer photoshoots. Frustrating!
This was of course an Easter postcard (I edited out the French greeting for this blog).

Well found, Caroline! He does have a very distinctive face and is quite beautiful. Unless there is a descendant blogging about an ancestor who was a model, I guess that even now it would be hard to put names to the majority of people who do modelling. I have a large folder from a US modelling agency from the 1950s. All the people are named. It was used to tout for work. Maybe if you looked for similar collections from earlier eras you might find some familiar faces? Definitely a very long term project!

The unfortunate truth of caring to find obscure info! Going by just a couple of pictures from the 20’s, yes I’d have a LOT to research lol. Hm I never thought of trying but Google France may yield more info.

Not a bad idea. Someone must have some knowledge about it. Good luck!

This is fantastic! The first thing I thought was DON’T EAT THE CHICK!!! But seriously, I love vintage photography. I have my BA in photocommunications, and when I was an undergrad at St Ed’s, we used to look through the archives at the HRC at the University of Texas at some of the crazy stuff people used to do. People think weird photography is new. No way. There’s some really great stuff out there. Sadly, a lot of it is in private hands. This one you found is great! Keep it up!

Thank you Julie for your nice comment! It’s funny, you are the second person who told me he looks like he’s going to eat the chicks LOL! I love your blog too.
