“The Tilted Hats”. RPPC. Private Collection.
The first person who attracted my attention was the gent in the bowler, I love the way he tilted his head in the opposite direction of the hat. And then I noticed his friends; the charming one next to him tilting his head too, and the others with the hat sideways or to the back.
I don’t think I have a favorite in this group; they all took a good picture. There must have been a joke or two about how the camera made the tough looking middle one quite blurry, and I think his nose was broken too.
And the front left nature boy with his neck scarf, undone collar and cane reminiscent of a branch. The teen to the front right looks like he was the younger brother of the one standing left.
All in all, a fine Edwardian group who must have made quite an impression! And with them goes one year of blogging on WordPress with 416 posts!

Haha! You don’t say. I don’t even want to tally how much I spent for the whole year.

I did start to but decided that it might be too incriminating although we went away last week, early birthday treat but no cards :-( however I did see a lovely Regency clock, the trouble was that we couldn’t agree a price, he would only come down to £1500 from £1850. Oh well more money for cards lol

Hahaha! Funny how it all comes down to how many cards you could get. Soon you’ll be talking of them like currency. “Hm, this clock is worth about a hundred cards, will I get or not?”

I can’t remember the most I’ve paid so far, the programmes are the most expensive although I was out bid on an autographed cabinet card which went for £83. The problem is that although probably have nearly 4,000 cards and film stills as a collection it isn’t worth much, so the contents insurance people keep telling me but as individuals they are worth much more. I told the kids that I’m giving my Gabrielle Ray collection to a museum, if they want it or they’ll have it all on ebay lol

Yeah, a film museum for certain. Come to think of it I’m not aware of any dedicated to silents and early Hollywood.

It may well be the Museum or Library in Stockport where Miss Ray was born although they may already have too much about her in which case it could be ebay

Well, there you go! I’m a card hoarder and it’s very hard for me to let go of cards, the idea alone scares me…lol. I know I eventually will have to prune my collection.

Congrats, not just for hanging in there for twelve months but for the huge number of posts you did in that time! These guys are definitely larrikins. I think they would’ve been up to any trouble they could create or find with gusto!

Haha! Yes, they do look like a handful, and self aware too! And thank you! I get into all kinds of hobbies I lose interest in, but this one is here to stay.
