Velox Snapshot. Private Collection.
A candid of a curly haired boy violinist in pajamas sitting in contre-jour by a tall and narrow window.
There’s some light reflection to the bottom, some fog and a ghost-like anomaly…maybe cigarette smoke…maybe not.

Love this! My mum is and my grandpa and great grandpa were violinists. This looks like the era my mum would’ve been a young woman.

When do you think this was taken? I thought 40s but on second look, maybe a lot earlier?

It’s on velox paper and is just a bit smaller than a postcard. The paper’s a bit flimsy. I don’t know enough of photographs yet to date it for certain. I am guessing 1920s to 1940…which is a rather large window of time. By his haircut I think 20s-30s.

Closer to Grandpa’s era. He was. Heavy smoker, so I’d like to think it is cigarette smoke in the pic!
