Kissing her bare back. Postcard. Private Collection
These Jacques Biederer real photo postcards are blank on the back and slightly vary in size from one to the other. There are traces of album scrapbook on the backs. These were highly collectible back in the days, as they are today.
In the following 4 postcards I found online she’s wearing the same thigh high stockings and shoes, and he the same suit and tie:
Apparently these two were a favorite of the photographer. I found them in several series.
Something that took me aback and kind of bothers me…a lot. These postcards go for a mint, however I’m amazed there isn’t a regular Wikipedia entry for this talented photographer (and his brother). It’s a sad fact and should be fixed!

The lack of wiki entry? Certainly!

The quick flash of thigh, the suspender showing all that’s missing is a well turned ankle 😊

Gotta love the risqué. These are so sensual and arousing. I guess they would have been considered pornographic in their day. They knock the socks off the crassness of most modern porn, don’t they? They do go for a mint. Why not write your own Wiki entry on the brothers?

I enjoy the softer pictures Biederer took, but I don’t care much for the ‘harder’ sort. Someone who is a true fan of all his work should do it. Wiki requires credible sources and I wouldn’t even know where to begin to find them. I’m not dedicated enough to the cause. The entry needs to be done by one of his true fans who has access to publications and the time to invest in the project!

I know what you mean about Wikipedia. Not aware of the work of these two prior to seeing these, so keep spreading the word. Maybe someone will answer the call!

I didn’t even know these were of them. When I got them the seller didn’t even mention the name! I just found them great. Then Summertime75 posted a postcard of the same couple and I asked him if he knew the photographer!

I see what you mean about the harder stuff yet still impeccably photographed. I am often surprised how little eBay sellers put into their listings but their laziness is our reward, as the cashed up sellers don’t look beyond the obvious. Most of my real bargains have been as a result of seller ignorance or even misspelling of key details!

lol I know what you mean! Miscategorized photos, men in drag described as women (haha). Once you know your niche you right away can spot the deals. I’ve seen pictures sold at tremendous bargains but still hesitated to get them because I’d had too many of the genre already. And then regretted it when I saw them again sold at much higher prices because a seller did see the deal too and bid for it. lol

You could always add an entry youself although they can be temperamental about the content, I’ve had several pieces deleted because the “expert” doesn’t agree with what’s written. But I agree it is a shame especially as they contributed to a whole genre of photography which is still enjoyed today

I’d do it, except I have no sources except for random articles published online. Wiki requires tangible sources, and I’m not dedicated enough to the cause to invest in books, go to the library etc…you’d think there’d be people really into him out there to do it.

Yes, and due to the nature of their work I’m betting publications and articles of the time are hard to come by/find.

I’m not sure that the porn sites that reference them would be acceptable lol.
I had several of my Gabrielle Ray entires because the &£&&&£@ classed my blog as a “fan site” which has no credibility 😡

Exactly my point! I would have no sources to cite for the main wiki site. They’re uptight about that. I did correct and added to entries there so I know the process, but in the case of the Biederer brothers, it’s a project…Probably why they don’t have an entry to begin with.

It is always nice to discover others love and appreciate the art of Jacques and Charles Biederer. I have dedicated a entire website to show and share their legacy. I have no intentions to invest time and threw all of it on Wikipedia but my site is non commercial. All the info and art is free to view for everyone.
I hope you don’t mind me adding the link, if you do just delete my post :-)
