The happiest little cabinet card on earth

My starry-eyed self HAD to add this very happy gent to my collection! And my regular followers know exactly why.

What a picture! Isn’t his laughter just contagious? I’m in love with this. What did the photographer tell his sitter to catch him laughing his head off like this? But whatever Dan Cleave did or say, hats off!

This is a very rare sight on a cabinet card, and such a lovely and precious moment caught at just the right time. The way he wears his straw boater hat too. As you can imagine, this is an absolute favorite of mine. And he’s got a nice set of teeth too. :)

The card has golden scalloped edges. I date this wonderful photograph to be from the 1890s to early 1900s.

Endearingly interested

This young man’s expression is so cute, cute, cute. And his bowtie is crooked. He wants to smile, yet he looks like he’s checking out something or is interested in the process.

This picture portrait came out wonderfully, didn’t it?

No name or photographer logo.

A tall German student with book. Card with sleeve and envelope

I am thrilled to add this card to my collection. It feels like a CDV but the dimensions are narrower and longer (2″ x 5″), and best of all, it came with the original sleeve and envelope, something which is quite rare to find. And it doesn’t hurt that this is a looker!

Mr. Dreamy Eyes with the bowtie

The photographer set the camera at a low angle which is highly unusual, but it paid off and the portrait is gorgeous. This gentleman has very beautiful eyes drawing the viewer in. Loving the fat bowtie too.

Alas, no name or photographer logo…This one came from a dealer based in East Sussex, England. This fine sitter was most certainly British.

Plain dark green card with gold bevelled edges and plain back.

A nice portrait of a priest from Manchester, New Hampshire. I’m tempted to say more but I’ll refrain. >:-)

The front is blank but the back is light pink with the busy but pretty photographer logo of the 1890s.
