This photo was taken in 1927 and is of Welsh actor Ivor Novello (real name David Ivor Davies) in the Alfred Hitchcock film “The Lodger” loosely based on Jack the Ripper. Ivor plays the role of a suspected serial killer who goes around London killing blonde chorus girls. My cup of tea.
His character’s a bad boy so in the category he goes!
The actor was multi-talented and was a famous singer and composer too. He was also openly gay. A shot of Ivor with his face uncovered after the cut.

Pictures and ephemera of Ivor Novello go for quite high prices on Ebay demonstrating his continued popularity. He performed with Miss Lily Elsie in The Truth Game https://summertime75.wordpress.com/category/lily-elsie/page/3/

Nice photos you got here! Did you see the film? Yes, I’ve seen some items. His autographs are expensive. I’m weary of buying autographs on eBay though.

No I still haven’t seen the film.
I can understand any reluctance about buying autographs on Ebay or anywhere else for that matter as there are too many frauds sold off. I usually only buy signed cards of Miss Ray and she had a distinctive signature, if I’m unsure I look at her signature on her divorce petition, which also have a copy of but her autograph doesn’t attract a high premium so I don’t think she’s worth forging

Right, the more famous they are, the more chances you have of getting ripped off :( Sad, really! People even make fake certificates of authenticity. I suppose you’d have to go to those companies that have been around forever, and pay the price. I don’t think there’s a bargain to be had in the autograph biz.

Oh my God, I can’t imagine! Who were they of? I see a lot of fakes on eBay of daguerreotypes of civil war soldiers,CDVs of Abraham Lincoln, etc…thank goodness I’m mostly interested in just regular people!

I can’t remember all of them but he had a “signed” boxing glove of Muhammad Ali (I think) which proved to be a fake
