A smiling young man and his Pitbull dog. Snapshot. Private Collection.
A mean looking harness this Pit is sporting! But the dog looks like it’s smiling as big as its proud owner!
My husband says it’s not a real Pit. I replied that some breeds from a century ago are not the exact same ones you see today. Traits have become exaggerated through controlled breeding. This may have been a part Pit, not an expert, but that’s something to think about.

The snout does look much longer than the traditional Pit bulls seen to day although I looked at some old images and the American pit bull does seem to have a longer one than the one we see here in the UK – bloody breeders and dog shows :-/

By the way, the American Bulldog is my husband’s favorite dog but I can’t bring myself for us to get one. They have a lot of problems, breathing especially. My conscience goes against breeding an animal for looks at the expense of its health. Same goes for some short nosed breeds of cats that are so prized today.

Besides, saving a dog from the pound is rewarding. You know they’re grateful. lol

That’s a good idea although there have been several incidents where the animal sanctuary didn’t reveal the true history of the dog which went on to injure a child. We have had sever cats from an animal sanctuary 👍

Uh oh…I guess we were lucky here. They warned us our dog would be barking a lot but she was just ignored so much she felt like barking. She got over that.
