A near pristine high contrast three-quarter portrait from circa 1880-90. I’m very pleased how well this cabinet card was preserved. Except for a couple of tiny scratches, it was carefully stored and looks amazing for its age. The cardstock is unblemished and still its original color: a lovely, clean shade of cream.

The back of the card is blank, and unfortunately this fresh faced budding gentleman with the Windsor tie wasn’t IDed.

Flat, Slick and Shiny

A profile portrait taken in 1923. It came in a nice folder frame with the photographer info, and still has the protective sheet.

If you ever wondered why great grandma’s armchairs always had lace doilies on the top of the backs, now you know the habit was born out of wanting to protect her precious furniture from her household’s intentionally greasy heads!

Well dressed handsome fraternity brothers proudly displaying their banner. Big boy in the middle has a ribbon on his coat.

Ever wondered why some suits still have a buttonhole on the left lapel? There you have it. This piece of jewelry has gone by the wayside but boutonnieres are still widely used on special occasions.

This teen has beautiful features yet he appears frail; he’s swimming in his collar. Was he recovering from an illness, or losing weight from sickness? If he were naturally this gaunt I think his collar would better fit him.

Brooklyn WWI era private signing document

A mystery as to what this private was handed and signed. Was the thick book a bible? A law book? This RPPC was glued to an album, effectively hiding the photographer info stamped on the back. All I can make out is the location of the studio in Brooklyn. I suspect the other two are related to him, his brothers?
