Two Drinking Friends

Toasting

Tintype

Two friends posing together toasting to a beer. This tintype is available on eBay. A great tintype for any collector.

A note about pants with pressed creases: no one knows for sure when they first appeared. Some say there are examples of them as early as the 1880s. Apparently they became popular after WWI. It is said Edward VII, Prince of Wales, invented them.

Creases required a great deal of effort to maintain in the 19th and early 20th Centuries before the development of synthetic fibers. Thus it was expensive to purchase and maintain trousers with creases. Thus there was an element of social class associated with wearing nicely creased trousers in the years before synthetic fibers.
