I seem to remember Brylcream having a distinctive smell and as it was launched in Birmingham in 1928 they could be wearing it

I like the smell of hair pomade. I lived in Guatemala for a time and all the young guys were using it then. None of the older generations. I guess it was a revival, along with wearing black stove pipe trousers and white ankle socks, which, to me looked ridiculous!

Interest pose for an Easter picture! I wonder if the brothers commemorated some religious milestone that year, such as a communion or confirmation. That could explain the handshake, and the older brother’s slightly smug expression.

Hello, Sarah! Thanks for visiting! Yes, that’s an interesting pose for sure. Usually the siblings face the camera. I have no background for this picture except for the note on the back “Easter 37′”, but there’s certainly a sense of going through a milestone; the steps could be a good metaphor.
