Soldier with rifle. Snapshot. Private Collection.
I’m not sure what country this soldier was from. I think he’s from the 70’s (off another picture I’ve seen of another with the same uniform), but I liked the pose and expression enough to get it.
The seller is based in Russia. This was most likely a soldier of one of the bordering countries. He’s smoking a cigarette with his rifle on the lap, bag to the side.

1920’s snapshot. Russell on tricycle. Private Collection.
This snapshot made me laugh. Was Russell trying to be funny, or was this his ride? I want to think he was joking around posing on a small tricycle. His friend (whose name I can’t make out) seems to be enjoying the fact he’s not the one on that contraption, he’s leaning on Russell’s shoulder from his adult size bike and seems quite ok with his own ride.

Boy in dirty shirt. 2″ 1/2 x 3″ 1/5 snapshot. Private Collection.
A peppy boy from the 30’s or 40’s who posed in his dirty shirt, probably for a school picture. His eyes sparkle with life, and if his shirt is any indication there wasn’t a spot he didn’t crawl under or climbed above in his neighborhood. A very beautiful portrait.

4.5″ x 6″ snapshot of young rural worker. Private Collection.
I love this candid portrait. Of course I tend to say this about every picture in my collection, but this young worker was captured on a field, his clothes tattered and his hair greasy, and I doubt it was from pomade…yet in his humanity he’s absolutely gorgeous.

Late night studying. Snapshot. Private Collection.
A candid of what I imagine is a university student taking notes from an open binder. The photographer seems to have caught him with a look of slight panic on his face.
The window’s open to a nighttime sky; cramming for some exam and not seeing the end of the tunnel yet? This picture reminds me of the student at desk from 3 to 4 decades earlier in 1912. It’s interesting to see what has changed.
