A Fashionable Edwardian boy
1890s-1900s well dressed Edwardian boy. Cabinet card. Private Collection.
This little boy was extremely well dressed with his wool overcoat and cap with the double-breasted gingham suit. Every single piece of his outfit looks new. With the lack of backdrop and the picture looking so crisp, it feels modern made too.
He’s wearing his gloves instead of holding them. His parents must have loved how this portrait came out. While the photograph was decently preserved, the card itself is less so. It is dark green, clipped at the bottom, and has no photographer info or name.
Short-handed at the office

Mixing business with pleasure? There’s much implied on this daring postcard. At least there are no wedding rings on display! Sometimes those Edwardians seem to be surprisingly forward with their sense of humor, and the determined smile on the brunette is scary!

That American Banjo Player

They have boutonniere flowers on the lapels. This was taken at a formal event sometime in the 1890s or 1900s, maybe at a wedding.
The German man with the scarred cheek

This German man may have been a veteran soldier in civilian suit. Something got him good on the side of the face, perhaps a knife. I’m thinking he was a soldier for the ribbon across the chest. He’s also wearing the black visor hat I mentioned before that was so popular in Germany at the time, and both worn by boys and men.
The bottom of the card was clipped to fit into an album. I can’t make out the message or handwritten name, only the year: 1910.
