Here’s another tintype I acquired. What is your opinion?I say there is not a single lady on this particular one. However, I could be wrong. I will state why I think the two women looking subjects in front are in fact male. You can click on the second photo for a large detail and tell me your own opinion.

Two friends posing together toasting to a beer. This tintype is available on eBay. A great tintype for any collector.

There’s something about him. Maybe because the cabinet card is so crisp, but he looks very contemporary. Anyhow, a very beautiful cabinet card from the 1900s. The picture takes the whole card, a good 4″ x 6″.
Can someone enlighten me on the style of hat he’s wearing? Is it a conductor cap? A miner cap? Note the high shine shoes.
Photographer: Unknown. Black card with bevelled gold edges. Both front and back are blank. A shame I will never know because the photographer did a fine job with this one.

Dana B. Merrill was a noted American photographer whose prints are still on sale today. I researched him based on the name and the N.H. in pencil I figured is New Hampshire.
Notice the front boy’s sneakers. These look like precursors of Chuck Taylors. And the long shadows of a late afternoon they cast! A great little photograph.
