Romance in the Moonlight – series of 4

“Psss…don’t stop with the necklace!” – Private collection.

This man’s got a dangerous look on the postcard above. Must be that creepy little thing on that chair whispering things into his head! :) I didn’t even notice it until I scanned the pictures. Yikes!

If I saw just one of the postcards instead of all four, I’d think an artist painted the backdrop. Instead, this photoshoot looks like it happened by a real seaside under the moonlight. You can see the moon going up the sky, the changing clouds and a few sailboats passing by. The lighting was expertly done, because this really does look like an indoor studio setting…or was it a photographic trick with a film playing behind them, the couple placed behind the projected screen?

“Oh! Break away.” Postcard. Private Collection.

The look and body language of the gent to the right is priceless! He’s so annoyed having to look at these two all lovey-dovey. The couple seems older too which makes this postcard even funnier!

Biederer’s Adam and Eve

Biederer couple in field. Private Collection.

Oh look, I’m posting unclothed people from the 20s or 30s.

This is another postcard by one of the Biederers or both, this time an outdoor shot of a nude woman in the arms of her semi-clothed man. This couple is quite beautiful and I did not censor the postcard. It looks like it was published as it is. I wonder if there is an uncensored version that was also out.

I love the pose, and while this was daring for the time it still could pass for art (and it is).

The smiling Victorian bride with her handsome groom

Wedding photo cabinet card. Private Collection.

1890s-1900s wedding photo cabinet card. Private Collection.

This beautiful bride is smiling in her long wedding dress with the puffy sleeves at the elbows. Can I say I love the groom’s shoes? I love his shoes! They look made for each other these two.

Turn of the century duo of circus performers

1890s-1900s European circus performers. CDV. Private Collection

The CDV is blank, back and front, but someone wrote their names and even the circus they toured with. Unfortunately I haven’t found info on either the circus or this pair of dancers/circus performers. I can’t even begin to imagine what their lives were like performing on the road back then. What do you think, siblings or a couple? It would make sense to imagine siblings growing up training how to dance, and they look similar.
