Running wild by the streetcar

boys-running

From what I know this picture was taken in Washington D.C. It’s widely available in print but I don’t know who the photographer was. A great, great picture however, of two boys running ahead of two cops on motorcycles and side cars. Most likely taken in the late 10s, it gives a furtive taste of how free kids were to roam the streets, something I’m happy to say I am old enough to have experienced myself, free of smart phones, free to run wild until you got home and mom gave you a scolding for staying out so late.

The late 1910s, when the young generation dismissed their parents’ constraining coats and pants for more relaxed and comfortable wear.

The original is faded by time and has stains all over. I did see potential in it and I’m happy with the way this turned out. I must add I changed the height of his bowler and tweaked the shoulders of his coat.

In a bowler and warm overcoat, this gentleman is riding his mare in the winterish countryside. He’s all smile too, proudly posing with the animal. This picture was taken in the mid 1910s.

A nice portrait of a priest from Manchester, New Hampshire. I’m tempted to say more but I’ll refrain. >:-)

The front is blank but the back is light pink with the busy but pretty photographer logo of the 1890s.

This is just too cute of a picture. This handsome gent is being all cheeky holding his sign. I hope he gave this to the lady of his heart, wouldn’t you be all smile to receive something like this?

This is a tiny picture, 1″ 1/4 by 1″ 1/2. Maybe from a photo strip.
