Slick’s five friends were cool kids

1910s-20s Slick’s Friends. RPPC. Private Collection.

Who was ‘Slick’? He had some photogenic friends. The two with the hat tucked behind the ears look like brothers, maybe even twins. The one on the left was quite relaxed while the one on the right was a bit like “hmm ok, I guess it’s going to come out like it’s supposed to come out…”. They all posed outdoors on a log bench in front of a wall of vines, leaving us with a slice of everyday fashion from the era, and wondering what they were really like.

1907 photography trick

I think the shadow on the wall is due to the double exposure. I’m leaning toward it being a photography trick and not twins dressed exactly alike. Opinions welcome.

The back note says “All aboard for New York…”

1880s three brothers and their other

These three brothers look very close in age, a pair of twins in the mix maybe? Maybe the two in straw boaters to the right. Note the chap to the front left who I think is the third brother, he’s wearing some nice looped buttons on his shirt, a short double tie and a light bowler. The whole look makes him look very ‘western sheriff’. The fourth man looks related too, same ears, same nose but of a darker complexion with different eyes. Maybe he was a cousin…or half brother. Ha! :)

No waistcoats on all four…Too hot for summertime.
