Swagger in the sun

1935 Snapshot. Private Collection.

1935 snapshot. Private Collection.

This one packs much style for a tiny photo that is only 1″ 1/2 x 2″.

This dashing gentleman is standing in the sun with his hands in the back, a white fedora hat with the black band tilted on his own tilted head. Match this with a randomly dotted tie and dark suit with the white pocket handkerchief.

On the back is a first name: Julia. His sweetheart? It looks like the man’s on a boat by a dock.

The hatted dandy by a vine covered fence

RPPC. Private Collection.

This RPPC isn’t matte but is on glossy paper. I didn’t know glossy paper existed this early on. This handsome dandy is posing with his arms behind the back, somewhere between a smile and a frown. The vine behind him look like they’re in need of water.

Oh, the eyes!

I’m a sucker for beautiful eyes. ;)

Here’s another pretty on a cabinet photo circa 1900. And with the high collar and fat little bowtie. Yes, sir!

Yet another Mr Handsome

RPPC.

RPPC portrait circa 1910.

Another portrait. I would have gotten the original but it’s too stained…a shame! A bit of Photoshop magic brought this chap back to life though. He’s got intense eyes.

Arnold the human doll

Is there such a thing as being so handsome you’re almost too pretty? I think Arnold, the 1930s university student from Brattleboro, Vermont managed just that.
